About Cuttin' Headz
Founded by The Martinez Brothers, Cuttin' Headz is the premier, artist-led platform for the most authentic and forward-thinking sounds in global dance music. Born from the raw energy of New York and rooted in the underground, we are a home for artists who push boundaries. We champion a sonically diverse roster that spans groove-heavy tech house, experimental textures, and the timeless sounds of house and techno that define our culture.
The Opportunity
Cuttin' Headz is in a pivotal moment of expansion. We are currently rebuilding and restructuring the label's foundation to scale our operations, enhance our artist partnerships, and solidify our future growth. We are looking for an entrepreneurial and experienced Label Manager to be the operational and strategic cornerstone of this new chapter.
This is not a maintenance role; it's a "builder" role. You will work directly with the founders and their core team to architect and execute the label's long-term vision. You will be empowered to take full ownership of the label's operations, from A&R and production to marketing and finance, driving Cuttin' Headz from a successful independent label to a global cultural powerhouse.
Job Description (What You'll Do)
As Label Manager, you will serve as the central hub for all label activities, responsible for the entire P&L and operational health of the business.
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a multi-year business plan for the label, identifying key opportunities for growth, scaling operations, and increasing revenue.
• A&R & Curation: Act as the primary A&R filter, scouting and signing new talent that aligns with the Cuttin' Headz ethos. Manage the full demo pipeline and oversee the curation of our release schedule.
• Release & Production Management: Manage the entire release pipeline from end-to-end—from mastering and artwork to digital/physical distribution, manufacturing, and release-day execution.
• Marketing & Brand Management: Architect and lead global marketing campaigns for all releases. Oversee the label's brand identity, social media channels, DSP strategy, and press relations.
• Financial & Legal Oversight: Manage the label’s full P&L, set and track budgets, and oversee all royalty accounting. Handle the negotiation and execution of all artist, remixer, and licensing agreements.
• Artist & Partner Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for all label artists and their teams, ensuring a best-in-class partnership. Liaise with external partners including distributors, publicists, and booking agencies to ensure all arms of the artists' careers are aligned.
Who We're Looking For (Qualifications)
We are looking for a seasoned professional who lives and breathes this music and has the business acumen to back it up.
Non-Negotiable:
• Proven Scaling Experience: You have a demonstrable track record (5+ years) of managing and successfully scaling an independent record label. You have built systems, managed P&Ls, and navigated the challenges of growth.
• Encyclopedic Scene Knowledge: You have a deep, authentic, and "on-the-ground" understanding of the global underground dance music scene. You are an expert in tech house, but also possess a sophisticated ear for experimental sounds and the classic foundations of house and techno.
• The "Ear": You are a trusted tastemaker. You know the key artists, the rising-star producers, the influential labels, and the key players before they become mainstream.
• Entrepreneurial Mindset: You are a self-starter, a systems-builder, and an autonomous problem-solver. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can build structure from the ground up.
Credentials & Skills:
• 5+ years in a Label Manager, A&R, or senior operations role at a respected independent record label.
• Expert-level understanding of the modern music ecosystem: digital distribution, DSP playlisting, vinyl production, music publishing, and international marketing.
• A strong existing network of contacts within the underground/tech house scene (artists, managers, promoters, press, etc.).
• Proven experience in negotiating complex contracts and managing budgets.
• Exceptional project management, organizational, and communication skills.
